Xel-Ha (pronounced Shel-Ha) is Mexico's depiction of what a water park should be like! Xel-Ha is actually a 2m deep estuary of natural beauty which leads from where the source of the estuary emerges from the rocks, right out into the sea, hence the ancient Mayan name Xel-Ha which means "source of water". The Mexicans have turned this huge area of paradise into a fun filled water based day out. Make your way by shuttle train to the top of the estuary and begin your 40 minute journey in a huge rubber ring all the way down to the bottom, stopping on the way if you want for a spot of cliff jumping or rope swings over the water. Or you can swim with more marine life than you'd see on most scuba dives, huge 4 ft grouper, yellow tailed sardines and even wild stingrays, much to the surprise of Wolverand and Hero as one swam a metre below them! And don't get scared thinking of tragic Steve Irwin, these beautiful creatures really are placid. After gorging yourself on the all-inclusive food here, go for a snorkel in some air-filled caves or follow the jungle paths round to some more hidden pools of beauty. Had enough of the water? Then go grab yourself a free ice-cream and beer! If only all water parks were this natural and this good. Check out www.xel-ha.com for the full glory.

To the left the huge river gently flows into the sea

To the right, it narrows off up into the hidden start point of your journey

And to the far right, another huge expanse of the estuary for snorkelling

At this point Deb didn't realise how big the fish were going to be

The area of water is so big that overcrowding is not gonna happen

Some of the smallest fish there!

Where's Wolverand, he was here a minute ago?

Ah crap, how we gonna get him outta there?

Hero tries to land on her head

Wolverand splashes down the 5m drop

The start of the rubber-ring journey was relaxing

Float out of the mangroves and the estuary widens
