If you're in the north island of New Zealand, be sure to go visit the mud pools and geysers of Rotorua known as Te Puia, www.nzmaori.co.nz. An outstanding place of natural beauty in a geothermal valley reminiscent of ancient earthen times, you begin to feel like you're a movie extra out of Clash Of The Titans as you stroll along and all around you geysers are erupting every few minutes, steam casually puffs out of random holes all around the hillside and best of all, you see boiling hot quicksand mud pools bubbling, popping, spitting and farting at you. This place is a real life 'Badlands' unspoilt after 40,000 years and to complete the effect there are a whole bunch of Maori dressed up as ancient tribesmen along with huts and other props to the same effect. You keep expecting some giant prehistoric 3-headed snake beast to pop out the ground at any minute. There were even plenty of "ancient" Clubflat cards all around the place too... |
